Working Group Interventional Cardiology

The Working Group Interventional Cardiology of the Austrian Society of Cardiology is a non-profit organisation with scientific orientation and standing orders.

The Working Group Interventional Cardiology selects a new chairman, who is recrutable out of a pool of approximately ten nucleus members every two years. Together with approximately 10 more Working Groups of the Society the Working Group Interventional Cardiology fosters all activities of research, science and education in conjunction with invasive and interventional cardiology. Invasive and interventional cardiology covers heart-catheterization, blood pressure monitoring, angiography of the heart and coronary vessels, therapy by balloon angioplasty, with stents and other new devices.

All the 34 heart-catheterization-laboratories for adults are linked by a network. Further improvement of the existing communication by installation of an electronically network for quality management, to ensure risk-adjusted outcome control and research, is one of the future activities. Target is appropriateness of care in our region, and for the future comparison from year to year and from region to region.
